TPSquared - Setting Sale Prices

Conceptual Overview

TPSquared is capable of allowing the user to pre-set sale prices prior to the actual event, thus reducing the effort required immediately before the sale takes place.

TPSquared is capable of maintaining 10 price levels. One or all of the price levels can be put on-sale at any time for any period of time. Sale prices are based on a percentage off of the original price or a dollar amount off of the original price. Any one item can make use of only a single method during any period.

Within TPSquared the user can set sale prices one at a time or make use of a batch technique that allows the user to set sale prices for a range of items based on the item code.

When specifying a sale price the user must also specify the time frame that the sale price can be applied, i.e. a starting date and an ending date.

Technique

Two techniques are available to set sale prices. Any item may be accessed and a sale price set for that individual item or a batch technique can be used that allows the user to set a range of sale prices based on a from/to item code range.

To access a single go to the main menu bar and under Inventory select the item options sub-menu. From the item lookup form select the item in question and open the inventory maintenance forms. Select the second tab, Pricing, and enter the pricing forms.

First place a check mark in the box labeled "Apply Sales Price", the box must be checked to trigger the sales price.

Secondly, enter a valid range of dates in the "Start Date" and "Valid thru"  boxes.

Thirdly, if you wish to apply a percentage off enter the percentage in the box so labeled. If you desire to take off a dollar amount enter that amount in the box so labeled.  Do not make an entry in both boxes. A 15% discount is entered as 15.00.

Fourth, above the base level prices is the title of each price. Next to that title is a check box. Enter a check mark, by clicking the mouse, for each price level that the sale price applies to.

Save the changes by pressing the save button.

The batch technique is found under the main menu bar under Inventory. Select the pricing sub-menu item and then the "Set sale Price" item.

The form that opens will show the user all items that currently have a sales price entered, even if that sale price is no longer functional because the date range specified as lapsed.

To set sale prices enter the starting item code in the "From item code" field and the ending item in the "To item code" field.

Enter the starting date of the sale in the area labeled as "Valid From" and the ending date in the "Valid To" area.

If you wish to apply a percentage off enter the percentage in the box so labeled. If you desire to take off a dollar amount enter that amount in the box so labeled.  Do not make an entry in both boxes. A 15% discount is entered as 15.00.

Under the selection criteria area each price level in effect is shown with a box next to it. Enter a check mark, by clicking the mouse, for each price level that the sale price applies to.

If the program determines that your entries are valid the "Add Sale" button will light up. Press that button with a single mouse click.

Note: This is a non-recoverable process. If an error is made the sale prices must be removed and re-entered.

To remove sales prices in batch mode, the process is the same as specifying a new sale price except that the "Remove Sale" button will be lit and may be pressed to remove existing entries.

Hint: It is always best to run a backup just prior to running programs that could affect the entire system.
